Best AI Headshot Generators - My Comparison of HeadshotPro vs Aragon AI vs ProPhotos AI vs the Multiverse AI - Who Wins?
So, you want a new headshot. Preferably one that doesn’t require an exorbitant amount of money or time.
I’m with you.
That’s why I decided to use an AI headshot generator instead of a professional photographer, where headshot prices can range from $25 to over $1,000.
My favorite: the Multiverse AI
But with so many websites offering this service, which one will give you the most realistic results? Which one is worth the cost and effort?
I decided to test four popular AI headshot generators to see which one reigns supreme in 2024.
To be fair, I used the same input images across the platforms — although some required me to upload more photos than others — and I purchased the most basic package available.
I’ll be evaluating the websites in terms of price, user experience, image quality, and “is it me?”
For the last criterion, it’s important to note that the majority of AI-generated headshots will NOT look exactly like you. That’s completely normal.
What you can expect is to get around 3–6 pictures that are usable (or so they say).
Here’s a quick overview of the four AI headshot generators (the Multiverse AI, HeadshotPro, Aragon AI and ProPhotos AI)
My Favorite: The Multiverse AI
I was eager to try The Multiverse AI's AI Headshot Generator, largely because I had seen a friend use it successfully. But unlike her, I wear the hijab, so I was curious to see how well the AI would render me in modest attire.
For $29, you get:
- 100 headshots
- 20 customized headshots
- Unlimited edit credits
The site requires you to upload 12–15 photos. If you don’t have that many close-ups, there’s a convenient crop tool built into the site that helps you center your face in the frame.
Here’s what I uploaded:
And here are my results:
Price:
- The most affordable of the four sites, at $0.29/photo.
User Experience:
- The upload process is quick and easy thanks to the crop tool.
- Quick turnaround — my new headshots were generated in roughly 20 minutes!
Image Quality:
- The headshots came out bright, colorful, and dynamic, with great lighting.
- The outfits were the most stylish out of the four platforms. Even the business blazers had some cool texture and patterns.
- The free unlimited editing is a GAME CHANGER. I was able to customize my clothing with specific descriptions (e.g., “leather jacket,” “pink hijab”) and fix small mistakes (e.g., covering up my hairline) to generate more usable photos.
- I could also swap the background (four to choose from), zoom out, and edit my facial features and teeth.
- However, the more you edit your face and outfit, the lower the photo quality becomes. It may also take several attempts to prompt the AI to generate the desired changes.
Is It Me?:
- I was pleasantly surprised with how many photos (15) looked like me!
- The AI not only did a good job matching my face but also learned my fashion preferences from the input images, dressing me in colors and styles I wear in real life.
TL;DR: the Multiverse AI is affordable, very customizable, and offers a quick turnaround.

HeadshotPro
You can’t search for “AI headshots” without HeadshotPro popping up. The site is frequently mentioned in Reddit threads and review posts for being user-friendly and producing high-quality results.
In fact, HeadshotPro claims that it has “reached professional-grade photo quality that is indistinguishable from a photo taken by a real photographer.” My expectations were high.
For $29, the basic shoot gets you:
- 40 headshots
- 4 edit credits
- 4 unique backgrounds
- 4 clothing styles
The process is straightforward. You simply upload 15 photos of yourself, and the site even indicates which ones will be accepted by the AI. You then provide your age, gender, eye color, ethnicity, and preferred clothing and background styles.
Here’s what I uploaded:
And here are my results:
Price:
- Not sure why I got 52 headshots instead of 40, but I’m not complaining. This came out to about $0.55/photo.
User Experience:
- Requires at least 15 photos to start, which is more than other services.
- There’s no crop tool built into the site, so I had to manually crop my photos before uploading them. If I didn’t crop them, they wouldn’t be accepted by the AI.
- The image generation takes longer than other AI headshot generators (mine took 40 minutes).
- There are a LOT of background options to choose from. Street, bookshelf, garden, marina, office, cafe, lake, alley, park, and more — each giving you a different vibe.
- There’s also a variety of clothing styles available, including a suit, turtleneck, doctor’s coat, denim jacket, and dress.
Image Quality:
- They really did look like professional headshots, especially with the realistic backgrounds.
- The lighting on the face was a bit dark and shadowy in outdoor settings.
- Despite the different clothing options offered, the AI generated plain outfits for me — appropriate for a headshot but lacking in personality.
- I received 4 edit credits to swap my face, background, pose, or clothes. However, the regeneration is not instant, and I couldn’t specify exactly what I wanted changed. For example, I could alter the general style of clothing but couldn’t request something specific like a blue blazer and white button-down.
Is It Me?:
- Not sure why the AI rendered me older (with gray hair) in many photos.
- The AI did a good job capturing my general likeness (brows, glasses, smile, skin color) but didn’t match my natural eye color.
- I got 4 or 5 decent photos as promised, but there were small things I wanted to change about each.
TL;DR: HeadshotPro offers affordable, photorealistic headshots with great backgrounds. But the basic package has limited editing options.
Aragon AI
Aragon AI claims to be the “most realistic AI headshot generator ever,” with over 25 million AI-generated headshots under its belt. If you don’t like the results, the site promises a full refund or a complimentary redo within 7 days of your purchase.
At $35, the starter package gets you:
- 20 headshots
- 5 outfits and backgrounds
- 5 poses
Aragon AI requires a minimum of 6 images to get started, which is appealing if you have fewer selfies on hand. Similar to HeadshotPro, the site will tell you which photos will be accepted by the AI. You can also indicate your preferred outfit style (smart casual, business casual, or business professional) and whether you want to wear glasses.
Here’s what I uploaded:
And here are my results:
Price:
- Although I paid for 20 headshots, I received 100 thanks to a “special bonus.” This came out to $0.35/photo.
User Experience:
- I didn’t have to upload as many images, making it less time-consuming. But after seeing the mixed results, perhaps it would have been better if the AI had more reference photos.
- The turnaround time was quick, under 30 minutes.
Image Quality:
- There’s no free option to change your background or edit your clothes.
- The teeth, eyes, and skin (unrealistic smoothness) are giveaways that the headshots are AI-generated.
- While other platforms typically generate just the user’s head and shoulders, Aragon AI includes the torso in several photos. This led to inaccurate assumptions about my body type, questionable arm placements, and even unexpected props — like a pumpkin in one photo.
Is It Me?:
- If you didn’t know me, you might say these turned out quite well. But I feel like I look more South Asian than Southeast Asian.
TL;DR: Aragon AI requires fewer selfies and has a quick turnaround, but the results don’t resemble me enough.
ProPhotos AI
ProPhotos AI is another popular AI headshot generator, boasting an impressive 50,382 customers and counting. The site can create headshots for professionals in any industry, offering specific services for doctors, lawyers, students, teachers, and real estate agents.
At $39, the starter package includes:
- 40 headshots
- 8 backgrounds and clothing styles
This headshot generator requires just 7–10 photos to get started. The upload process is pretty much the same as any other website.
Here’s what I uploaded:
Unfortunately, none of the photos dressed me in proper hijab or attire. For modesty reasons, I won’t post them but here are two that look SO UNLIKE ME that I feel comfortable sharing:
Price:
- On the pricier side, coming out to $0.97/photo.
User Experience:
- The uploading process was easy and straightforward since the site requires fewer input images. However, there’s no crop tool, so make sure you have some close-ups ready.
- Image generation took just 20 minutes for me.
Image Quality:
- The photos looked low-resolution when I zoomed in.
- You have 2 rework credits, which can be used to generate 8 more headshots “with alterations to the facial features that will increase the accuracy significantly.”
- There were also some questionable outfit choices, like winter coats and scarves, which I would never wear being from the humid city of Houston, Texas. The AI also dressed me in T-shirts that seemed a bit too casual for LinkedIn.
Is it Me?:
- The fact that I was not dressed in a hijab or any outfit that I would wear in real life puts ProPhotos AI at the bottom of my list.
- However, in terms of facial likeness, several of the photos did resemble me. But what’s the point if I can’t post them?!
TL;DR: ProPhotos AI is pricier and generates questionable outfits for headshots.
Final thoughts
Which AI headshot generator would I use again? Which would I recommend to you?
Drumroll please...
The Multiverse AI.
Not only is it the cheapest service among the four, but the results were truly impressive. The Multiverse AI generated the most headshots that looked realistic, professional, and personalized.
Plus, the FREE unlimited editing is what truly makes the service stand out. The tool lets you add more personality to your photos — whether you want different clothes or settings — and also allows you to fix small flaws, such as uneven eyes or strange teeth.
Overall, AI headshots have improved a lot in quality. When picking a platform, consider the balance between cost, customization options, and the quality of the final images.
And just remember that like with a real-life photography session, you’re gonna have to sift through the duds to find the gems.
